Being a secondary teacher, my connection with my students looks different depending on the grade, subject, gender and let’s be honest the direction the wind is blowing. Our schools’ incorporating of the Kingdom of God principles of LoKoP with the questioning and self-actualistion theory of RTP, within our Student Care and Wellbeing Centre, allows teachers to focus on maintaining connection, providing a classroom environment where my students feel safe, secure, seen and soothed.

When I received a gifted copy of Loving Your Students on Purpose, I left it sitting on my desk for a few weeks as I was so busy. But eventually I picked it up and was amazed at how aligned by beliefs were with the principles unpacked by Bernii. Our school had implemented the Responsible Thinking Process 10 years earlier and we had struggled to fully embed the theory in our daily practice across all our classrooms. LOSOP brought the clarity and connect between faith, science and pedagogy that was missing. We invited Bernii to speak at our next PD session and the response was stunning. Since then, we have appointed a champion team member, we are engaging our whole leadership team in PD and we are embarking on a 3-year culture shifting journey with Bernii.

Bernii and her team have been amazing in training our local teachers with the philosophy and mindset of Loving Our Students on Purpose.
